The Legend of Sam Fuld

posted 2 years ago

Sam Fuld had a great two games, keying Cub victories and playing a very impressive defensive left field. He showed that he was every bit as grindy as he was in 2007 and teased Cub fans with his ability to talk a walk, go the other way, and see lots and lots of pitches.

At the end of the day however he is still Sam Fuld, another 27-year-old career minor leaguer who failed to impress several times in the past.

In short, Fuld is a guy, one who has his talents, his glove cannot be denied and he has surprising speed and a decent eye at the dish, but with more glaring weaknesses than most Cub fans want to admit.

Look, beating the Brewers was important, seeing 9 pitches leading off the game was amazing, but we’ve seen this movie before, with Micah, Bobby and the boys. Cub fans, we are better than this.

I’d like to see more than a two game sample size before I pass judgement on a guy like this, but I have a feeling that just like with Mike Fontenot, more Sam Fuld will show us some really bad/zero power Sam Fuld.
